Your Privacy Rights

Supercorp is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of any personal information entrusted to it. Personal information means any information that can identify a person. Supercorp is bound by the Privacy Act and the National Privacy Principles regulated by the Federal Privacy Commissioner. Personal information is used only for providing superannuation accounting and administration services to you, it will not be passed on to a third party other than in the performance of the service which Supercorp is contracted to perform. Supercorp will not publish, sell, trade, loan, rent, disclose or re-use personal information.

What Information is Collected?

The Supercorp website may collect information of a statistical nature including the number of visitors visiting the site, the time, duration and pages visited. Similarly, Supercorp may collect data for statistical analysis from their database but only where such data does not include individual identification of personal information. This data collection and analysis helps Supercorp to understand the priorities of clients, along with industry trends which are used to improve the Supercorp service offering.

General information is also collected on an ongoing basis from other sources as a result of information requirements for the services offered by Supercorp.

Personal information, including names, addresses, dates of birth, tax file numbers and other forms of financial information are collected on an ongoing basis. It may be collected via an application form, telephone, fax or e-mail from you or another party such as a financial planner, accountant, fund manager or other source. This information is required to provide the services offered.

How Your Personal Information may be used?

Supercorp policy is to use personal information only for the main business purposes for which it was collected. The personal information collected from you by Supercorp may be used to:

• Provide you with our services or with other information you have requested;
• Notify you about other Supercorp services or promotions from time to time; or
• Manage our relationship with you.

If you no longer wish to be notified about other Supercorp services or promotions please let us know. Please note that the personal information collected about you may be used by different companies within the Supercorp Group, but only if this is necessary in order for Supercorp to provide you with its services.

In some circumstances, personal information may be disclosed outside Supercorp. For example:
for legal reasons, disclosures may need to be made to law enforcement agencies, government agencies, courts or external advisers. Personal information may also be used to produce statistical summaries for use by Supercorp or other parties to report on trends and activity over the client base. No personal information will be included in the summaries.

In some circumstances, personal information is disclosed to third parties where this is related to the supply of services. This can include third parties to whom Supercorp contracts out specialised functions, such as mailing houses and printing companies.

In this event, steps will be taken to ensure that those contractors comply with the Privacy Act, and are authorised only to use personal information in order to perform the functions required by Supercorp.

Enquiries or Complaints

Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to information which Supercorp holds about you, although there are some exceptions to this. You also have the right to ask Supercorp to correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Supercorp’s policy is to consider any requests for access or correction in a timely way.
